Camarillo, CA

The plant is located between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, only a few miles away from the Pacific Ocean. It has been in operation for 30 years, producing solar wafers, cells and panels for worldwide distribution. There are more than 300 employees in Camarillo, many of whom have worked at the facility for decades. They are a strong group of dedicated employees who enjoy their work and take great pride in producing quality products that are so important to the environment. In its history, the company has had several management changes. Starting as an independent small engineering house, it was first sold to Arco, then to Siemens and Shell – companies, whose core business was not photovoltaics. In this respect, the plant got back its independence when SolarWorld took over all silicon based activities from Shell Solar.

Vancouver, WA

About 100 employees are working in the production area and administration. It is here in the Pacific Northwest, where the monocrystalline product begins, where silicon is transformed into a single crystal ingot, the building block of solar panels. These blocks are shipped to Camarillo for further processing. The cooperation has tradition: Also this plant has been operating for decades. The area is well known for its good conditions for energy-extensive productions like crystal growing. The area provides a lot of renewable energy, gained mostly from water power.

Hillsboro, OR

This factory was purchased in March 2007. The former semiconductor plant is located 20 miles southwest of Portland and is being transformed into the largest solar fab in the Americas. The integrated solar silicon wafer and solar cell production will reach a capacity of 500 MW by end of 210. Several hundreds of employees will work in this state-of-the-art assembly line. The ramp-up phase started in spring 2007, and as soon as this summer, the first production line will be up and running. In the second half of 2008, the cell production will be running at full capacity.

Camarillo, CA

The sales team is located in Camarillo, California. Our team has established contacts to our customers over many years now and is very experienced to meet their needs. Either for large installations, medium free standing systems or customized roof mounting Sunkits. The first office of SolarWorld California based in San Diego was opened in 2005. After the acquisition of Shell Solar, the office moved to Camarillo.
