The first event on the Big Wave World Tour went down in some very big, cold and scary surf in the south of Chile. I stuck to my game plan and headed down a couple weeks before the end of the holding period of the contest to practice and loosen up the injured shoulder.
The plan paid off and I made the finals of the contest. I ended up getting fourth place and having a great start to the new year on tour.
After the contest I had the opportunity to talk to some of my Chilean friends about solar power in their country and the lack of it.
Everyone wants to implement solar energy but there are no government subsidies, so it is still very expensive. They are not set up yet to grid tie either but the future looks bright. I have a feeling a solar future in Chile is closer then we think.
I am back home now doing a bunch of residential installs and am really liking the new shiny SolarWorld Sunmodule 250 watt solar panels. We just started using them a couple months ago and they are pretty sexy. We have been getting great customer feedback. Next stop on the tour is Pico Alto, Peru.
