What a difference a few hours makes. I posted earlier that the Elektra One team was feeling pretty low when they learned that their demo flight was scratched for today. But it’s all smiles now with the announcement that PC-Aero was awarded the prestigious Lindbergh Prize for Electric Aircraft Vision Award at the World Electric Aircraft Symposium.
Calin Gologan, CEO of PC-Aero and designer of the plane said, “My surprise was 200-percent,” when he had a moment to reflect on the award, following a surprising onslaught of photographers and well-wishers. He called the award “confirmation that we are on the right work” and reiterated his belief in the vision of transforming aviation using solar energy. “We are making future technology affordable,” he said.
Of course, he’s still hopeful that Elektra One will fly before AirVenture concludes this weekend. But tonight, I think, Calin’s buying.
