SolarWorld to Showcase High-Capacity Technologies at Solar Power International
World leader and pioneer in solar power will exhibit at event, and take part on panel to debate "so-called" silicon shortage
San Diego, Calif., October 13, 2008 – SolarWorld, a world leader in high quality solar power technology, today announced it will exhibit at this year's Solar Power International event – the United States' largest and most prestigious solar conference and exhibition. SolarWorld is located in booth #1613 and will be sharing information on its expansions in production, green jobs and safe investments in solar installations here in the Americas.
The show takes place in San Diego, California October 13 – 16, 2008.
SolarWorld Chief Operating Officer Boris Klebensberger will take part in a panel titled "The Great Crystalline Silicon Debate" on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. PT in Room 20A. The panelists will share their perspectives on the dynamics of crystalline silicon module costs and near-term developments. The panel will spend a significant amount of time talking about the impact of what some consider the silicon shortage.
SolarWorld will wrap up the week up with the Grand Opening of its Hillsboro, Oregon facility, which will be North America's largest solar cell manufacturing plant. The Grand Opening will take place Friday, October 17, 2008.
"Solar Power International gives us an opportunity to share our cutting-edge manufacturing process for developing solar cells for today's burgeoning global market," said Boris Klebensberger, Chief Operating Officer at SolarWorld. "By focusing in on economies of scale with investments in high capacity facilities, we can help bring down the cost of solar and meet the promise of real energy alternatives."
Solar power is increasingly considered the most promising energy alternative because of advances in technology and high-production manufacturing. Facilities like the one SolarWorld is pioneering in Hillsboro, Oregon will reduce the costs of solar power, accelerating commercial and residential installations of solar panels.
