SolarWorld brings all-American solar financing to homeowners in Hawaii

Freedom™ Plan pairs flexible payment options with American-made quality and aesthetics

HILLSBORO, Ore., Sept. 9, 2013 – SolarWorld, the largest U.S. solar manufacturer for more than 35 years, now offers the SolarWorld Freedom™ Plan, the solar industry’s first financing program dedicated exclusively to American-made solar panels, in Hawaii. The program is designed for homeowners seeking freedom from rising utility costs by replacing a portion of their electricity bill with a low monthly solar-power payment. Unlike competitors’ financing programs, the SolarWorld Freedom Plan guarantees the use of high-quality American-made solar panels in every installation.

“With abundant sunshine and some of the nation’s highest utility rates, Hawaii is an ideal place for homeowners to reap the financial and environmental benefits of solar,” said Rusty Pittman, director of marketing for SolarWorld Americas. “SolarWorld’s Freedom Plan makes the decision to go solar easier and more affordable for Hawaii residents.”

With zero-down, low-down and prepaid options, the SolarWorld Freedom Plan gives homeowners the freedom to choose how they finance their American-made solar investment and minimize their upfront costs. The plan is offered in conjunction with SolarWorld’s complete solar-electric systems, which include photovoltaic equipment, installation, monitoring services, system insurance and maintenance for up to 20 years.

SolarWorld offers the Freedom Plan in Hawaii exclusively through Inter-Island Solar Supply, a SolarWorld distributor for 30 years. Inter-Island Solar Supply has three branches located on the islands of Oahu, Hawaii and Maui.

“We are excited to partner with SolarWorld to bring the Freedom Plan financing program to the Hawaii’s homeowners,” said Ron Richmond, manager of business development for Inter-Island Solar Supply. “The Freedom Plan enables Hawaii families to reduce their electric bills by removing the high cost of purchasing a PV system.”

The Freedom Plan is available to Hawaii residents through the company’s network of authorized installers. SolarWorld authorized installers are experienced solar professionals with a proven track record of quality design, construction and customer service. Homeowners can visit the SolarWorld website to find an authorized installer in Hawaii.

Hawaii-based installation companies that are interested in becoming SolarWorld Authorized Installers and providing flexible financing through the Freedom Plan can register for the program online.

SolarWorld launched the Freedom Plan in California in February. It is currently available in six states, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts and New Jersey. In the coming months, SolarWorld will expand the Freedom Plan into additional U.S. solar markets, including Arizona and New York.
