Washington's first ETM solar electric vehicle charging station

North Coast Electric EV4

Seattle, WA
Canopy Electric Vehicle Charging Station

Completed 2011
Installed by McKinstry

System Details:

System Overview:

  • Located in the parking lot of North Coast Electric, a distributor of SolarWorld products, the solar canopy can cover and charge two electric vehicles
  • The Energy Transfer Merchant charging station, developed by EV4 Oregon, is the first of its kind in Washington state

Customer Testimonial:

"The solar canopy will allow us to provide EV charging with renewable energy. Phase II of this project will be done in conjunction with the local utility, Seattle City Light to provide stored renewable energy in a battery bank for use on their smart grid. This project is the face of things to come, charging electrical vehicles from power generated by the sun. It’s a win-win-win for our customers, the utility and our community." – Michael Heidingsfelder, Operations Manager, North Coast Electric
